Dante's Peak Extension Activities

1. Contact the Mount St. Helens National Park visitor center and order the Mt. St. Helen's seismograph and conduct an analysis on the readings.

2. Contact the Department of the Interior, National Parks division, by mail or by going on line, and find out about volcanic parks that you can visit.

3. Write a letter of request to the USGS General Interest Publications (USGS Book and Report Sales, Box 25425, Denver, CO 80225) and requesting copies of Robert Tilling's booklet "Volcanoes," Christina Heliker's "Volcanic and Seismic Hazards on the Island of Hawaii," and a copy of USGS's "Build a Volcano, Paper Model."

4. Call your local disaster/emergency management office and request a copy of your areas emergency evacuation procedures and find out what you can do to help prepare your house for emergencies.
